Bernardus Founder Ben Pon set out to make a red wine equal to the finest from Bordeaux and chose Carmel Valley for his estate vineyards. The 37-acre vineyard is currently planted with 32 acres of vines comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petit Syrah, and Merlot.
